CHARITIES...

In the future, surcharges (FUTURE ADVANTAGES, #6) that sellers choose to add onto their standard listing fee will go to their selected charities/causes. **The following charities/causes have been selected by CentList based upon world need regarding the addressing of various problems plaguing Earth and its inhabitants.

**All listed non-affiliated organizations have not necessarily endorsed CentList.com. They were merely selected based upon their perceived effectiveness in addressing the issues. CentList is not authorized to collect funds on their behalf as an official representative. Any funds collected via CentList and/or Ad Spread Collective will be relayed directly from contributors into accounts controlled by the charitable recipients. (No funds are being collected at this time because all CentList listings are currently free of charge.)

(*Note: Alterations to this list may be made at any time should selected entities become defunct, judged as ineffective, or should other entities be found who are more effective in addressing vital issues.)

ALTERNATIVE ENERGY

[ALTERNATIVE ENERGY]

Global Institute for New Energy Technologies

Industrialised countries are heavily dependent on fossil fuels, especially oil and gas. Gas and oil together provide 70% of the energy used in both the US and UK. But the world's reserves are rapidly diminishing, and they don't have to actually run out before precipitating a crisis.

“GIFNET's mission is to address critical issues, provide credible information and innovative solutions for our planet's pressing biospheric needs through inexpensive, clean energy systems known as New Energy Technologies (NET)."

CHILDREN

[CHILDREN]

International Save the Children Alliance

Over 100 million primary school-age children cannot go to school. Around the world, 27–30,000 children die every day. The silent killers are poverty, hunger, easily preventable diseases and illnesses, and other related causes.

"Save the Children fights for children's rights. We deliver immediate and lasting improvements to children's lives worldwide. Save the Children secures and protects children's rights – to food, shelter, health care, education and freedom from violence, abuse and exploitation."

From "Take It Personally" by Anita Roddick.

ECOLOGY

[ECOLOGY]

CentList Green Product Fund

(Note: The Green Product Fund--GPF--is active NOW.)

Making green products easier to afford.

Global warming; vanishing species and forests; ever-increasing populations consuming more and more resources, emitting more pollution. Our one and only world must be protected.

The CentList Green Product Fund will be established to raise money that will greatly supplement the cost of green products, making them highly affordable for CentList members. CentList will purchase various products from its seller members at bulk or wholesale prices and then offer them at auction--with all bids starting at just 1¢ (plus exact shipping). The products will be such items as solar panels, windmills, and energy-saving light bulbs as well as products made from ecologically compatible materials by fair-trade organizations. All money generated from auctions will be contributed directly back into the Fund.

(One particularly great source for green products is Green America's “National Green Pages".)

(Note: This listing modified November 3, 2010.)

EDUCATION

[EDUCATION]

CentList Essential Education Fund

Student debt is rising every year. The average cost of college increases at twice the rate of inflation. Meanwhile, there is a shortage of doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, mechanics, accountants, etc.

CentList will establish this fund to raise money to pay tuition fees for students enrolling in essential curriculum majors and technical fields needed by the world. Seventy-five percent of the scholarships and tuition awards will be awarded to domestic (US) students; the other 25% will be awarded to foreign students showing the most promise regarding their desire to help their nation.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

[ELECTRIC VEHICLES]

CentList Electric Vehicle Fund

With the world's oil disappearing, and with pollution being emitted by internal combustion engines, electric vehicles would be a godsend. Unfortunately, world emphasis has not yet been placed on their development, much less their marketing.

CentList will establish this fund to raise money for CentList members to purchase electric (and/or energy-efficient) vehicles. Interested members will “bid" on the money.

Manufacturers under consideration: Aptera, AFS Trinity, & Tesla Motors. Other manufacturers will be considered when they begin producing compatible vehicles.

When enough money accumulates into the fund to purchase an electric vehicle, the sellers will get a chance to bid on the money, win it, and get put onto the waiting list to buy the vehicle. Their bids will go directly back into the fund to be awarded to the next winner. The money would be released only to the vehicle supplier or manufacturer.

HEALTH CARE

[HEALTH CARE]

Remote Area Medical

The lack of affordable and/or accessible health care has bankrupted many families as well as devastated sectors of nations. Plus, ailments that could have been easily treated in earlier stages become worse in latter stages.

The Remote Area Medical® (RAM) Volunteer Corps is a non-profit, volunteer, airborne relief corps dedicated to serving mankind by providing free health care, dental care, eye care, veterinary services, and technical and educational assistance to people in remote areas of the United States and the world.

HOUSING

[HOUSING]

Habitat for Humanity

The world is experiencing a global housing crisis. About 1.6 billion people live in substandard housing and 100 million are homeless, according to the United Nations.

“Habitat houses are affordable for low-income families because there is no profit included in the sale price. Mortgage length varies from seven to 30 years."

JUSTICE

[JUSTICE]

CentList Justice Fund

The danger that innocent people will be executed because of errors in the criminal justice system is getting worse. A total of 69 people have been released from death row since 1973 after evidence of their innocence emerged. Various falsely incarcerated persons suffer from injustices afflicted by bogus witnesses, unlawful police, court appointed defense attorneys, prosecutors and judges! See world prison trends via the International Centre for Prison Studies.

CentList will establish this fund to raise money for new trials for inmates (especially those on death row) who proclaim their innocence and who have persuasive evidence against their convictions. The money will be paid directly to their legal representatives and to any other legitimate entities aiding in their cause. The money will be split 50-50 between domestic (US) and international inmates.

PROGRESSIVE ECONOMICS

[PROGRESSIVE ECONOMICS]

Kiva.org

Half the world - nearly three billion people - live on less than two dollars a day. The poorer the country, the more likely it is that debt repayments are being extracted directly from people who neither contracted the loans nor received any of the money.

“Kiva lets you lend to a specific entrepreneur in the developing world-empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty. You can loan as little as $25 at a time. Checking out is easy and safe because of PayPal."

NOTE: CentList will store seller's Kiva surcharge contributions in a fund. When enough funds accumulate to lend the minimum amount, that amount will be loaned to a Kiva entrepreneur. This cycle will repeat itself for the remaining entrepreneurs until the funds are depleted below the minimum lending amount Kiva accepts.

WILDLIFE

[WILDLIFE]

Wildlife Conservation Society

Since the year 1600, a total of 83 mammals species (2.1%) and 113 birds (1.3%) are known to have become extinct. This number is expected to rise rapidly as the breeding populations of many species continue to decline. The strongest forces in rapid habitat loss are human beings.

“The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild lands through careful science, international conservation, education, and the management of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks."
